Bridgwater Science Festival
Tuesday 15th April 2014, Bridgwater
Bridgwater Science Festival is a non-profit, volunteer ran organisation that will be bringing inspiring science activities to Bridgwater. We are working with STEM groups from across the region to showcase local talent and engage local children and families.
Events will be taking place during the May half-term break, spread across a number of venues in and around the town centre including Robert Blake school and EDF Visitor Centre in Angel Place. There is also an online nature/wildlife photography competition which is open now – get out and about and see the amazing range of wildlife that lives in our fantastic region.
So far, there are confirmed talks and activities from the Institution of Civil Engineers on Wednesday, ‘A Passion for Space’ series of talks and displays from Wells & Mendip Astronomers on Friday evening, plus other activities at EDF Visitor Centre. Then there will be our hands-on exhibition day on Saturday 31st. Featuring local and regional STEM groups, there will be something for all the family to see and do. Full details of participants will be announced soon. Later in the evening we are proud to present Sciene Showoff, an adults only chaotic open mic night of science. Science Showoff features a series of 9-minute performances on a range of science topics, and is compared by Steve Cross (Head of Public Engagement at University College London (UCL), as well as a trustee of At-Bristol).
