We are delighted to say that the attendance at the Town Hall on Saturday was well above our expectations. The ‘Family Fun Day’ was busy from start to finish, with an estimated 800 visitors throughout the day.
The two children’s shows – Fizz Pop Bubbles, and a Fossil Puppet Show – both totally packed out the Charter Hall, with a number of people having to watch from out side the room. The three adult talks – Extreme Weather (Met. Office), Butterflies (Butterfly Conservation), and Spectroscopy (Wells & Mendip Astronomers) – each had respectable audiences of between 20 and 35 watching.
For our first year, in 2014, we had approximately 150 on the Family Day and a total of 300 across the whole week. So having had 800 people attend on the opening day was fantastic!
Including the other events (UWE and Avalon Marshes at EDF Visitor Centre / Angel Place), Funky Fossils at the Brick & Tile Museum, and Stargazing evenings, the total attendance is very likely to smash the 1000 mark!
